Connecting Ireland is a new initiative developed by Enterprise Ireland to help broaden and strengthen its professional contacts within the Australian and New Zealand business communities who are prepared to offer their commercial support to Irish companies – and in turn, help drive a crucial export-led economic recovery.
Despite enormous economic expansion over the past two decades, Ireland is in the midst of its deepest recession in more than 60 years. Since the onset of the global financial crisis, the Irish economy has contracted at an alarming rate, with unemployment currently in the double digits - a 14-year high. Whilst Ireland’s economic foundations are inherently strong, significant growth across the Emerald Isle is not forecast until at least 2011.
