Equinome was established in 2009 as a result of groundbreaking research led by company founder, Dr Emmeline Hill. The research was focused on understanding the genetic contributions to athletic performance in racehorses. A breakthrough led to the development of the Equinome Speed Gene Test, which was launched in January 2010. Breeders, trainers and owners can use the Equinome Speed Gene test to assesses the genetic type of a thoroughbred and maximize the potential of their athletic performance.
The company announced on the 12th Nov the publication of three scientific papers by Equinome and University College Dublin researchers in Animal Genetics and the Equine Veterinary Journal which describe significant advances in the understanding of the genes that contribute to athletic performance in Thoroughbred horses.
Equinome is already attracting interest from breeders across the world. Equinome and Enterprise Ireland are currently preparing for their launch into the Australian Market, which takes place in early December.
